resort 2016: all the pretty dresses

Zac Posen Resort 2016, look #15
Summer in the city requires a lovely dress. I used to hate dresses for some reason but dresses really are the easiest way to inspired style. Pair this dress with Mary Janes for work; put some strappy flat sandals into your tote for after work. Parfait.

Zac Posen Resort 2016, look #6
Have you noticed how hard it is to find a stylishly soulful dress with long sleeves? Zac Posen gives us several in his turned out for afternoon tea resort collection. We love him for this. We love the cut of this particular dress; hip hugging yet still swinging around the legs.

Gucci Resort 2016, look #1
All the world did descend on New York this past week to witness what new creative director Alessandro Michele had to offer for his second Gucci collection. Style.com says "colorful, eccentric, and unabashedly retro." In other words, everyone loved it, everyone wants it. Beyond the two dresses shown here (above and below) lyrical babydoll confection for the Hollywood elite and even some for us.

Michael Kors Resort 2016, look #35
Michael Kors gives the ladies a blend of politeness and reserve with a dash of urban in his collection. His dresses are lovely. This green dress is perfect for work, styled as is with wedges gives it that touch of playful we can get away with when it's hot.

Jonathan Saunders Resort 2016 look #22
Homage to the 60's, the dress is both languid and handsome. Wear with low heels (pumps, slingbacks, sandals - keep with the sixties style)

Tadashi Shoji Resort 2016 look #18
Tadashi Shoji's creations are always executed with a intuitive feel for the curves of a body; the sweep of his dresses inspired.

Sachin & Babi Resort 2016 look #11

Sachin & Babi: A new name for me, I want to wear this silk creation with flat sandals on an island where the wind  blows. Yep.

See by Chloe Resort 2016 look #5
This dress is in my luggage for my holidays on Crete.

Alexander Wang Resort 2016 look #19
Loose, longish dresses with flat strappy sandals work for any day of the week in the city.

Chloe Resort 2016 look #13
Chloe is the Queen of lyrical confections. Never too sweet, always cool and clear.

Misha Nonoo Resort 2016 look #11
Misha Nonoo's dress for your Indian Summer, when the days get shorter, the sun is still warm. Pair with low-heeled boots (of the Saint Laurent kind) in keeping with those swinging Sixties.

Lisa Perry Resort 2016 look #22
Lisa Perry: got a party to go to? Or an evening outdoor concert (Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe please)? This is the perfect dress.
