the one coat: Alberta Ferretti purple wool

If you plan on buying one new coat for the season, it has to be versatile, of expert tailoring, excellent quality, warm, of a proper length with a subtle nod to current trends. In our opinion, Alberta Ferretti's purple wool coat with the removable fur collar fits all of the above quite perfectly: purple was seen on the runways of New York, Milan and Paris for the Fall/Winter 2012 collections. An added bonus: purple is a color that transcends gimmicks so a classic for many seasons to come.

A love for Russian Winter Fashion and a new Anna Karenina movie is giving us fur: fur collars, fur cuffs, fur hems, fur coats. There is nothing lovelier than having a soft fur collar to protect you against freezing winds gusting in from the East River.

We do love this coat, think it not outrageously expensive and find  the proportions perfect to wear with trousers and dresses. Pea coats (definitely trending this season) are nice and cute but if it's going to be the one coat, it has to be of a length that will take you to the Opera, dinner and to your corner café.
