Soaking up local Color: Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2013

The scent of hot lemons will follow you no matter which city sidewalk you shall grace. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have contributed more than just the black bra to the books of fashion history. This season they've added humor with abandon a la I love Lucy into a collection seemingly inspired by "God's Kitchen" as Sicily is sometimes nicknamed.

Baskets, paniers, fruits, a mash up of greek/Roman/African mythology and some Carmen Miranda decor permeate the collection. Fun, frivolous, ridiculous but most importantly: passione. We love Dolce&Gabbana for that and for reminding us of Lucy Riccardo soaking up local color outside of Rome, Gina Lollobridgida strutting the streets and Diane de Poitiers in her undergarments. Brava.

if you don't know I Love Lucy, watch the episode where she presses wine with her feet. It's fabulous and you'll see what we mean.
