Impossible Conversations: Geisha Girl meets Jane Eyre: Prada Spring 2013

Jane Eyre: “I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself.”

Geisha: "We sell our skills, not our bodies. We create another secret world, a place only of beauty. The very word "geisha" means artist and to be a geisha is to be judged as a moving work of art."

With each season and each new collection, a woman tries to reinvent herself and find her style anew: swimming through waves upon waves of fashion crashing over us, occasionally one chances upon a conversation which invokes a rare kind of freedom: the freedom to interpret something strange . Stop the presses: Miuccia Prada is here. We translate this Japanese/Victorian/ Mad Men collage as follows: life is rich with humor, pathos and a vast tapestry of history. Walk forward in life dressed like you know what you're doing even if you don't have a clue. But knowing you don't have a clue adds a furrow to the brow we find rather charming. The sameness of highly polished botoxed foreheads is too dull.

We don't have a clue about where life is going to take us but we want to be dressed in something which leaves room for individual interpretation. We shall ditch the shoes though. We never were fans of socks with sandals.

I find these clothes inspirational. Wearable, telling and subtle at the same time. But I agree the shoes gotta go.

If I had to name one collection out all the ones I've seen: it would be Prada. She retains an air of mystery.
