Spotlight: Marion Cotillard

In the May 18th issue of the Hollywood Reporter, "The many faces of Marion Cotillard" are featured with an interview conducted by Stephen Galloway, executive editor of The Hollywood Reporter. He traveled to New York to interview Ms. Cotillard. Currently, she is spending time there shooting a new film with her one-year-old son and her partner, actor director Guillaume Canet (Canet and Cotillard have been together since his divorce from Diane Kruger five years ago. We do wonder if that makes for awkward encounters in Cannes. Ms. Kruger is on the jury judging over Ms. Cotillard. Can you imagine Jen and Angelina meeting on the red carpet?).

The accompanying article is fairly interesting and gives some insight into her life and career. Sadly, I couldn't find out more what Ms. Cotillard is wearing in these pictures but THR is about films more than fashion so that's okay. She looks divine and is a very talented and expressive actress. She is considered the Angelina Jolie of France although we find Ms. Cotillard much more diverse than Angelina which may or may not have to do with the American film industry - emphasis on "industry". The French have a faible for film poetry more than Americans do (the reason why Hollywood regularly re-makes French movies).

She is the face of Lady Dior, her role as Edith Piaf won an Oscar for the movie "La Vie en Rose" and Christopher Nolan offered to alter his shooting schedule for "The Dark Knight Rises" to accommodate her: Marion Cotillard has arrived on both sides of the Atlantic.
