rise of the dress: the mini

Mary Quant named it after her car, Andre Courrèges made it respectable by elevating it to haute couture and Jean Shrimpton caused a scandal in 1965 by wearing a shorter dress (it wasn't even that short): the mini. Temporarily buried in the 80's beneath shoulder pads and other weird stuff, the mini is as hip now as it was 48 years ago. Here some cool ladies we have to thank for the initial success and for the enduring of this most wonderful of trends. Yeah, I'm a fan of minis.
