Is this the best ad Nike has ever done?

The World Cup is 21 days away and Nike has made its 3-minute epic ad available to the public. All the usual suspects ie Nike Athletes Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Didier Drogba, Fabio Cannavaro, Franck Ribery, even Lakers star Kobe Bryant and Homer Simpson get roles in this football extravaganza by producer/director Alejandro G. Inarritu of "Babel", "Amores Perros" and "21 Grams" fame.

Nike doesn't do small. Wonder what Adidas is up to?

Here's was Advertising Age says about the Nike Ad:

"Nike VP-Brand and Category Management Trevor Edwards declared that the marketer's TV creative for June's World Cup was "among the best we've ever done," no small statement from a company renowned as a master of the form.

The spot chronicles how individual moments in World Cup play can ripple globally. And, of course, it does that without actually mentioning the World Cup, as Nike -- despite its numerous team and player sponsorships -- is not an official sponsor of the tournament. (Rival Adidas is.)

Epic title for an epic ad? "Write the Future". Here it is.
